The no more boring ceilings starts with our Great Room. I believe and hope that this was the most time consuming of my ceiling projects;)

So this is how it looked before I started.

This is one of the design elements. Click on it and you will see the approximate complete design. I understand that this sounds like oxymoron but what I mean is the the actual constellations I fit into each design just before I started working on this panel and the complete design here is the concept stage drawing.

Each panel is 4X4' plywood. I used dark stain for painting the pictures on the panels.

after that I used lighter stain to cover the panel.

We tried to use clue to keep the panels up, but they were too heavy for that. So we had to come up with another method.

We used wood blocks to secure the panels up in the ceiling and those same wood blocks are holding the crown molding as well. Here I am using the broom to hold the panel in place until Indrek secures it enough so it stays up itself.

Here my first panel is up and secured. You see the wood blocks I was talking about.

Crown is installed as well. Looks pretty good, doesn't it, especially considering that this is my first ever crown molding installation. I used the coping method for the corners and I think I did a very good job.

More and more panels are installed. Here I am giving last touch to one of the corners

and here you see it all done.

I would not like to do that again. I started this project in July and finished it just in time for our Thanksgiving party.
I would like to thank Indrek for helping me to install the panels and some of the molding, Ray for making the blocks and installing the other part of the molding and Ralf for helping to make the blocks. I made the panels, did all the cutting of the crown molding and finishing touches. I was just too short to install the panels and crown alone. With out the help this great project would have not materialized. Thanks
