Telecommunication Management Network (TMN) and Related Issues

TMN is one of my interest domains. Some practical suggestions for integrating SNMP and TMN management.

Network Management systems are known to be large, expensive custom projects. Some believe, that standard interfaces only add to the complexity making situation only worse. Not so, if the developers use standards to their advantage. Here are some thoughts how.

TMN defines the interface data model in GDMO/ASN.1 Today's network management is implemented as distributed interoperating computer systems using Object Oriented technology. OMG's CORBA provides significant advantages for distribution environment. CORBA uses IDL for interface definition. Are IDL and GDMO/ASN.1 alternatives or complementary? Here are my thoughts on this, how about yours?

Telecommunications management is complex domain. A number of big and small vendors are offered tools to simplify the development.

While learning and exploring the area I have found many sources in the Web. Some of them may be of interest to you.
